As I wake up with a head full of yellow curlers, I remember that the day was an important day in my calender. I have a COMPETITION! So my day starts with a mad rush of making sure I have everything needed for a day full of madness. Not only do I have my head looking like a pineapple, but my little 3 year old sister has too.
I leave my house with everything, except the kitchen sink and make my way to the feis. It only takes under a hour to get to Bedford from my house - which my mum was grateful for! I got to the venue plenty of time before my I was due to dance, but it still got delayed by an hour.
Then the usual rountine of my mum taking the spikes out of my head, and polluting the fresh batch of ringlets with can after can of hairspray and glitterspray took place. After this my friend Claire walks in with her wig secured nicely into place (cheater!). We get our number (I was 298, and Claire 299) and start to stretch and warm up. The time of sitting and waiting around soon goes fast and you find yourself in that mad rush to finish off getting ready.
I danced in 9 dances, and was quite nervous when the results were being called. As I dance in Intermediate for some dances (Slip jig, Heavy jig & Hornpipe) I was being placed against Claire in the Slip jig and Hornpipe. I was placed in 6 dances: In the Slip jig I came 2nd, heavy jig 4th, hornpipe 2nd, Trophy Reel 3rd, Try Light jig 2nd and the Try Heavy jig 4th! A very successful day I might add!!!
